Pop rivet guns

Pop rivet guns are convenient for quick riveting of light materials. The rivet has a body that forms the finished rivet and a mandrel that is discarded when the riveting is completed. It is often called blind riveting because there is no need to see the other side of the riveting hole it reaches. Some types of rivets are sealed so that they are waterproof or pressure-proof.

The rivet is inserted into the plier’s holder, and the rivet body is inserted into the material hole. When the pliers are squeezed, the mechanism retracts the mandrel, tightening the rivet body. The head of the mandrel acts on one side of the rivet body, and on the other side, the pliers push the rivet head, causing it to be swell. By swells, a rivet is formed that tightens and joins the two parts of the material. When the riveting and joining are complete, the rivet mandrel falls off.

The rivet is a disposable fastener, unlike a nut and bolt that can be disassembled and reused. When riveting needs to be removed, it must be drilled out or cut off.

To perform a riveting operation, you need a rivet gun, rivets (pop rivets), a drill, a drill bit of appropriate size, and material to be riveted (eg sheet metal).

When choosing rivets for work, take into account the diameter, length, and material. The length of the rivet body depends on the thickness of the rivet materials, ie on the depth of the hole. Usually, the length of the body should be 1.6 times longer than the thickness of the material. The rivet material is always chosen according to the riveting material. Stainless steel rivets are used for riveting stainless steel materials, and aluminum rivets are used for riveting aluminum parts.
The drilled hole must be wide enough so that the rivet can easily pass through it. If the hole is too wide, the rivet will be too loose and will not hold the joined materials firmly.
The rivet tools can work with different sizes of rivets, selection, and installation of the appropriate bracket.
