Automotive oscilloscope

An automotive oscilloscope is a digital measuring device specialized for measurements of the vehicle. Various physical and electrical quantities can be measured with this device. The display of the measured quantity is on the screen in the form of a signal or a numerical value.

Modern automotive oscilloscopes have software support for faster and more accurate measurements. At the same time, this software provides the user with benefits such as:
– automatic screen adjustment by selecting the measuring object
– simultaneous recording of several different measured quantities
– instructions for connection and measurement
– signal recording and subsequent inspection
– storing recorded measured values (signals)
– comparison of measured and recorded signals
– generation of adjustable signals

To measure a physical or electrical quantity on a vehicle, it is necessary to connect an appropriate measuring probe that can measure that quantity and convert it into a proportional voltage signal. The voltage obtained from the measuring probe is sent to the oscilloscope for further processing and display on the screen. The displayed signal or numerical value is in a unit of measured physical or electrical quantity.

Physical quantities that can be measured with an automotive oscilloscope:
– engine speed
– oil temperature
– air pressure
– fuel pressure
– etc.
and electrical quantities on the vehicle:
– battery voltage
– charging current
– speed signal
– primary and secondary ignition voltage
– lambda probe voltage
– and many other sizes.

Control, adjustment and display of measured values are done through the software on the computer.
