Crimping pliers

Crimping pliers are a multi-purpose hand tool. It is designed to do several different things such as cutting cables, stripping wire, crimping insulated terminals, plug connectors, and non-insulated open plug-type connectors, cutting copper and brass screws threaded, repairing vines on small screws, and measuring conductor thickness.

Crimping pliers

The automotive industry uses electrical connections to solder-free connectors. The use of crimping pliers is convenient for quick and efficient removal and re-establishment of the electrical connection. Solderless connections require a clean, solid connection without transient resistance.

Terminals of different shapes and sizes are used for the connectors. According to the shape, they can be quick-disconnect terminal, spade terminal, hook terminal, ring terminal, snap plug terminal, butt splice, etc. There are non-insulated and insulated terminals. Insulated terminals are usually in three colors that define the size of the conductor: red (0.5-1.5), blue (1.5-2.5) and yellow (2.5-6).

Insulated terminals

Only remove as much insulation as is necessary to fully enter the terminal. In the case of a stranded conductor, twist them slightly after crimping. Use a proper crimping tool for the terminal you are crimping. Do not use pliers, as they tend to cut through the connection. Select the proper anvil. Use firm pressure so that a good electrical contact will be made, but do not use excessive force, as this can bend the pin or terminal.
