Vacuum bleeding

Extraction of air and old brake fluid from the brakes can be done without assistance by the vacuum bleeding using a vacuum pump. The vacuum bleeding set consists of a manual vacuum pump, a transparent container with appropriate caps, hoses, and a set of connections and adapters for connection to the brake system.

Vacuum pump

There is a transparent container between the vacuum pump and the bleeding valve. Place the switch on the pump in the position to create a vacuum. We manually create a vacuum in the vessel via a pump. When the bleeding valve is opened, the vacuum draws brake fluid from the hydraulic system into the reservoir. We can monitor the movement of fluids through the intestines and in the vessel. When the brake fluid is clear and does not contain air bubbles, close the bleeding valve, neutralize the vacuum in the vessel via the switch on the pump and separate the hose of the vacuum pump from the valve.

Vacuum bleeding

First, the air is extracted through the brake unit to the point furthest from the master cylinder to the nearest. During the extraction of air, we constantly check the level of brake fluid in the tank. When the brake fluid level is below the minimum, there is a risk of air being sucked into the hydraulic system via the master cylinder.

To vacuum brake bleeding, follow these steps:

Preparation for bleeding

Prepare and connect the vacuum pump to the brake unit air extraction valve at the point. Start from the farthest brake unit from the master cylinder. Before bleeding, check the brake fluid level in the tank.

Vacuum bleeding

Unscrew the bleeding valve on the brake unit by a quarter to a half turn. Manually create a vacuum in the brake fluid extraction vessel via the vacuum pump. Observe the brake fluid for bubbles. Close the valve when there are no more air bubbles in the liquid. Remove the hose from the valve. Repeat the previous procedure on each brake unit to a point from the farthest to the nearest master cylinder. Periodically check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and refill the appropriate level.

Check the brake system

After completing the bleeding from the brake fluid, double-check that all bleeding valves are properly closed and fit protective covers. Fill the tank to the appropriate level. In the case of a system with a vacuum brake booster, start the engine. By depressing the brake pedal, check that there is no failure and that the pedal is firm.
