Protective Mask
The protective mask protects the respiratory organs from dust and chemicals. When working in an environment where dust is present or generated during work, you should always wear a disposable dust mask. When you are in a work environment where there chemical fumes are present, you should wear a respirator.
The disposable dust mask is made of paper with wire-reinforced edges held on the face by an elastic band. It covers the mouth and nose and is disposed of in the waste material after use. This type of mask is only used for dust and is not for protection against chemical fumes. Also, a dust mask does not protect against asbestos dust because the asbestos particles are too small to be removed. When asbestos particles are inhaled, their sharp tips pierce the lining of the lungs and eventually create scar tissue. Potentially cause lung cancer or other life-threatening diseases. In addition to asbestos, there are other dangerous dusts in the service workshop that are created by removing and processing elements of the exhaust and brake systems.
The disposable dust mask should fit securely to the face to minimize leakage around the edges. This can be a problem if you have a beard.
The respirator has replaceable filter cartridges that can be changed depending on the type of pollutant being filtered. Always check that the filter cartridge is suitable for the airborne contaminant before use. Filter cartridges should be replaced according to the manufacturer’s recommended replacement schedule to ensure their effectiveness. To be completely effective, the respirator mask must make a good seal on the face.
